We were retained by Massa Construction as Geotechnical Construction Engineers to develop an engineered approach for constructing the foundation for the Yates County Courthouse last year. This job had many challenging aspects including dewatering by well points and underpinning the existing building foundations. Both of these operations are somewhat unusual for building construction projects in the area, and required unusual coordination and perseverance by Massa. We found that Massa approached these operations systematica1ly with a high degree of professionalism and integrity. Our relationship with Massa Construction from a contractor aspect has been for approximately 10 years, in which the Bank has spent over $ 6.7 million dollars. Massa Construction won a number of their projects with us on a bid basis. The initial renovation of our downtown County Project would have been one of our first projects together. Due to consistently holding to time schedules and budgets, we have built our last four projects on a Design and Develop basis with Massa. Three of the four projects have been with Beardsley Design Associates as the Architect. Massa is currently completing our Main Office renovation project. Massa Construction is the General Contractor for the project, with a $ 3,268,300 contract for their portion of the work. Massa Construction has been very cooperative to work with. They have given extra effort to ensure that the scheduled completion and turn over dates be met. Their field personnel are providing quality workmanship, on time. On August 13, 2002, Massa Construction was chosen to be the lowest bidder to act as the general contractor for the roof replacement project at the County Office Building on Genesee Street in the City of Auburn. This project involved many aspects of construction including asbestos abatement, electrical renovation and roof replacement. At biweekly construction meetings, a representative from Massa Construction was always in attendance. Massa Construction Company coordinated and worked cooperatively with the other contractors involved in the project. Due to the enormity of the project, the entire 6th floor of the County Office Building was required to be displaced during construction. The project was completed ahead of schedule with no change orders. With the completion of the project, employees were able to resume activities in their offices on November 12, 2002 We have been completely satisfied with the work that has been performed by Massa Construction(more) (less)
